a full time, 24 hours a day job

That's what a mommy's job is! And most of the time I love my job. I love how cute and cuddly this two kids are, I love how funny they are and how they make me laugh, I love all the adventure and spontaneity they bring to my life, and I definitely love the fact that I never know what to expect from one day to another! :)

But, there are days that I do not love my job! The days when there's more crying than laughing, more tears than joy, more stress than excitement and more whining than cuddling!
It's on those days that I need this verse that God gave me this morning, "what can separate us from the love of Christ? Can tribulations, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger or sword? NO, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us!" Romans 8:35-37
Yesterday was one of those days that I desperately needed this verse! And, today could have possibly been a repeat, but thankully the Lord gave me this verse in my quiet time today. As I meditated on it I just couldn't help but marvel at the greatness of God- He not only gives us the power to withstand huge tribulations and even death, He gives us His strength to be a calm mom, an energetic worker, a woman who speaks with kind words, an attentive wife...and whatever else you may need the strength of God for at any given moment! I also couldn't help but marvel at my selfishness. These words were written to the early Roman church who was undergoing extreme persecution- not unlike what some of our brothers and sisters are going through in other countries- and here I am, in my comfortable little house with my adorable little children complaining and crying because I couldn't get both of the kids to sit and take a picture together! Wow! Putting it in that light definitely makes me think twice about complaining about my day. At the same time, though, I'm so thankful that God gives us the strength to accomplish anything-even seemingly insignificant and small things, and that He doesn't tell me that my requests of my trials aren't worth bothering Him about, because I don't have a ton of strength to put up with whining and crying kids on my own! :) It is amazing how a change of heart for the mom really changes the atomosphere in the home and I'm thankful that God gave me the change of heart that I needed to bring about some peace in my home.

5 months!

Jackson has been around our house for 5 months, now!!

Can you believe it??! I can't!!
Here's what he's up to:
he weighs 12 lbs. 12 oz., more than 6lbs. higher than his birthweight
he's 29 inches tall, more than 10 inches longer than he was when he was born
he had his first taste of rice cereal
he smiles and giggles and laughs at his sister
he plays with toys- grabbing at them and actually getting them
he rolls from his back to his front and from his front to his back
he's wearing 3-6 month clothes- he just went through a huge growth spurt in the last few days!!
the best part about this little guy is that he's sooo incredibly smiley!
He just smiles and giggles at everyone and everything!
His favorite, though, is his sister. Anytime she comes near him he just lights up!
I love you, baby Jack! You light up my life!

feeding the baby!

Jackson got to try some cereal the other day and Hailey really wanted to help! She did a great job and he did, too. He's not a huge fan of it, but what kid is?! I think it'll grow on him as he eats more and more of it! :) We're gonna keep practicing, too, 'cause he seems to be going through a growth spurt and mommy just can't keep up.

I just love these kids! They make me giggle and smile- there's no bad day that looking at my sweet babies can't cure!! :)
